Folding with 'Team radioarchive.cc'

We have set up a 'radioarchive.cc' team for 'Folding at Home' (FAH). This is an INTERNATIONAL PROJECT which is based in Stanford University in 'Silicon Valley - USA. The project is involved in calculating the ways in which the structural elements of PROTEINS and other similar complex molecules are 'folded into to shape' in both health and disease.

You can find the main site at:

http://folding.stanford.edu/English/Main

and the team stats at:

http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.py?qtype=teampage&teamnum=163028

People can learn all about it at the FAH website and many other related ones.

A dedicated section of the Forum has been set up - and you will find it at:

http://radioarchive.cc/forum/index.php?action=forum#8

All that is required is to install a bit of software which will download 'work units' from the FAH server, do the calculations in the background and then upload the results and ask for more work units. It will only ever use 'spare' CPU/GPU cycles which your computer was just going to convert to heat and waste anyway - so there is no cost to you - just as there is no cost to you for the use of radioarchive.cc

The Forum software has been updated and the opportunity is being taken to streamline the layout and make provision for adding more 'portal' functionality.

Any 'block' which appears to have disappeared will have been adjusted so that it only appears on the front page of the forum - which will appear by default when you enter the forum unless you have bookmarked a different page in your browser.

The front page can be reached from any other page by clicking the [Home] link at the top-left of the page.

Also - as you will have seen - a new theme has been added (Adagio). You can easily switch back to your previous theme by going to the [Home] page and using the [Change Theme] option on the left-hand side. If any members have particular requirements for alternative themes for visibility reasons then please make these known and we will try to accommodate them.
